Reservoir Engineering
PDL has extensive North American & International conventional & unconventional reservoir engineering experience. We focus on understanding behavior before embarking on advanced production analysis or simulation. Bob is developing new evaluation techniques to forecast production and estimate in-situ stress changes from depletion.
Well Completion Design
PDL works with operators to achieve staged-success in more challenging environments. Stages of success may include pilot/execution, technical, and commercialization phases. Kirby helped design the longest horizontal well that could be hydraulically fractured using a ball-drop/open-hole packer system in a west-central-Alberta tight sandstone reservoir.
Production Engineering
We use our reservoir & completions engineering experience to optimize brownfield natural gas & oil fields. Kirby increased gas production by >25% from >2000 commingled, group-metered shallow gas wells using engineered well servicing programs and systematic data collection to optimize the frequency of periodic clean-outs of groups of wells.
Well Test Design, Execution, Supervision & Analysis
We provide a turn-key service from conception through execution and analysis for many types of specialized well testing including: Flow & Build-ups, Injection/Fall-off, Interference Testing, Production Logging & DFITs/DFIT-Flowback. The best test results are achieved with clear objectives, integrated planning, oversight and analysis. Robert recently planned and supervised a DFIT Flow-back test executed on DST tools in a vertical well to test in-situ stress for possible hydrogen storage.
Hydraulic Fracturing Design, Diagnostics & Optimization
PDL offers an integrated hydraulic fracturing diagnostic service that combines DFITs, frac stage pressure fall-off analysis & offset well pressure data (Fracture Driven Interactions) to quantify fracture heights, lengths, perforation cluster-efficiency & static fracture conductivity. We have applied this workflow successfully in several Montney, Duvernay, Permian & Marcellus pad horizontal settings so far.
